Managed Hosting

In this service, all of the capabilities described under Co-Location continue to be present, but in addition we free you up completely from the burden of managing the server(s) - we design, build and configure the equipment, to a jointly-agreed specification. We can finance the whole thing too, if desired.

Examples of optional facilities include:
    • Load-balanced performance: if your activities are of such a volume and/or intensity that it makes sense to have multiple servers deployed to handle the workload, it probably makes equal sense to ensure that that workload is spread as efficiently as possible across the computers. We deliver this by employing sophisticated software running on its own servers to allocate processing power, based on rules that we jointly create e.g. round-robin, by transaction type, by source etc., to optimise the performance of your server investments.
    • Fail-over configurations: as well as spreading the load across servers, if your business is critically dependent on your computing resources being ’always-on’,  we can jointly craft a solution such that, in the event of one of your servers failing, processing can be switched to another. This could be, as the jargon has it, a ’warm standby’ server. In this setup, data is mirrored at regular intervals, which means that there are times when the secondary system is slightly out of synchronisation with the primary, but can nonetheless be brought up-to-date and on-stream within a very few minutes. Alternatively, depending on your business imperatives, we work with you to develop a ’hot standby’ solution, in which data is written to both server environments in real-time,  enabling immediate failover from the primary to the secondary. Both standby modes can individually accommodate redundant disk configurations, providing the ability to continue processing in the event that a disk fails but the server itself is  unaffected.
    • Clustered database capabilities: in addition to the use of redundant disks to provide resilience, the combination of multiple load-balanced servers in fail-over configurations may further demand sophisticated database management techniques to provide the required fusion of availability and performance in intensive real-time applications. By coupling Datacenta’s wide experience with the knowledge of highly-expert resources in other parts of the Kimcell Group, we are well-placed to advise clients on the optimum configuration and partitioning of storage, as well as keeping it running smoothly after implementation.
